Administration, Finance, and Stewardship Committee

This committee oversees the various administrative and financial matters of the Church. The responsibilities include:

Preparing financial status reports to the Session

  1. Conducting the annual Stewardship campaign
  2. Arranging for the annual audit of the church books
  3. Monitoring the church’s finances and making sound financial decisions
  4. Providing offering envelopes, financial giving records, and information on wills, bequest, and available memorial funds

Buildings and Grounds Committee

This committee is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the physical plant of Grace Covenant, which includes all the buildings, the land, landscaping, and all systems within the buildings. Comments concerning security, safety, parking, lighting, sound systems or meeting facilities should be addressed to this committee.

Memorial Garden Committee

This committee is a subcommittee of the Buildings and Grounds Committee. The garden is dedicated to the glory of God as a place of worship, fellowship, and prayer. It is intended to serve as a place where the church will gather for informal fellowship, children will play, weddings and other appropriate worship will occur, and individuals will mediate and pray in quiet beauty. For those who wish, the placement of the cremated remains of church members and/or their immediate families is welcomed and encouraged. This shall be done under the guidance of the Pastors and the Memorial Garden Committee.

Christian Education Committee

This committee is charged with overseeing the total education program. Our primary aim is to provide a church school program that allows children, youth, and adults to grow in their understanding of scripture and in their relationship to Jesus Christ. We believe that as people grow in these areas, so will their participation in the mission of the church. Some of the additional areas of responsibility and programs of this committee are:

Nursery

  1. Health Education Committee

  3. Vacation Bible School
  4. Special events like Lenten Studies, Maundy Thursday dinner, Easter Eggcitement, Christmas Alternatives, Hanging of the Greens, Christmas Pageant, Breakfast with the Angels
  5. Computer training classes
  6. Scholarship Committee
  7. Special speakers and seminars

Congregational Fellowship Committee

This committee seeks to promote the sense of community within the congregation and to friends who worship with us. One important task is to prepare and serve meals for Lent, the Annual Meeting, the annual picnic, and special receptions. This group is also charged with finding new and fun ways to promote fellowship within our church family (i.e. sports teams). The church historian also reports to this committee.

Evangelism Committee

The charter of the committee encourages us to bring persons into a saving knowledge of God in their lives. To accomplish this task, the committee:

  1. Contacts first-time visitors
  2. Staffs the guest area and refreshment table in the Narthex
  3. Welcomes new members
  4. Monitors attendance patterns
  5. Presents programs of evangelistic nature

Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church (GCPC) Foundation

The Foundation serves the church by encouraging and enabling individuals to support the church's ministry through the giving of accumulated resources such as bequests in wills, charitable remainder and other trusts, charitable gift annuities, assignment of life insurance, transfers of property, etc. Our foundation works with the national Presbyterian Church (USA) Foundation for sound investments and to provide a variety of programs that often benefit both the church and the donor. The foundation also oversees the distribution of the proceeds to ensure that the wishes of the donor are scrupulously observed.

Long Range Planning Committee

The primary mission of this committee is to develop and maintain a long-range plan for major church facilities and to periodically report on that plan to the Session in the form of studies and recommendations. If you have ideas regarding future program plans or specific building and/or space plans, this committee would like your input.

Nominating Committee

This committee, made up of two Session members one Deacon and four members of the congregation who are elected at an annual meeting, serves as the nominating committee for elders, deacons, search committees and other matters needing congregational action.

Outreach Committee

This committee administers and plans distribution of the church resources that are designated for benevolent efforts. This includes support of programs within our city, state, nation, and world through our contributions. Some areas of talent, energy, and monetary support are:

  1. Mission family in Madagascar
  2. Habitat for Humanity
  3. Interfaith Hospitality Network
  4. 2 Cents a Meal
  5. Fresh Start
  6. Operation Christmas Child
  7. One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost offering, Peacemaking offering, Joy Gift, etc.

Members of this committee are the chairpersons of the Session and the Clerk of the Session. This committee is concerned with issues pertaining to the church staff. They are responsible for validating personnel requirements, maintaining, and updating the church’s personnel manual, and assuring performance appraisal requirements are met. They determine that governmental rules and regulations regarding employment are met.

This committee was established to oversee the planning, acquisition, and allocation of technological assets owned by the church and to take necessary steps to source and provide support.
